This man makes my heart SWELL. If you haven’t put two and two together, he’s my father! So thankful to God for blessing me with the best earthly daddy I could ever ask for. He’s loving, patient and kind. A true man of the Lord and let’s not forget how CRAZY talented he is. With being his only daughter, I’m sure you can imagine just how protective he is over me. He’s always making sure I’m safe, happy, and alright. I love it, he’s so amazing.

My dad and I have always been close but it seems that as the years go by we somehow manage to get even closer! And honestly, I think a lot of the credit is due to those special Father-Daughter dates we go on once a month and sometimes more. I’m telling you, they are so powerful and something you will ALWAYS hold close to your heart.

I understand that some of you may not have a relationship with your dad due to a variety of reasons. As that breaks my heart to see, I do understand. However, no matter how bad the situation, I encourage you to pray for him. Let God do the mending. And if and when feels right, invite him out for a date. Build that relationship you once believed would never be. Even if it’s tough.

Today I’m going to give you a sneak peak into my dad and I’s lunch dates to show you just how much fun, uplifting and strengthening these dates can be for your father-daughter relationships. Here we go!

Believe it or not, dads can be the best diary! I’m always expressing what’s on my mind, how my day has been and so on to my daddio! He’s a great listener. The topics we discuss can be as simple as what the weather will look like for tomorrow or as deep as what life struggles we are currently facing. No matter which it is, it’s pulling us together, it’s strengthening our relationship and it’s keeping that bond. Communication is so vital in keeping close with anyone if you think about it. So if you avoid one another, just realize you’re never going to get anywhere. You gotta TALK!

Never ever have we had a date where we haven’t prayed. It’s our favorite part of the whole thing! We usually pray over our meal and then also for each other. It’s a very moving and connecting moment due to the power there is in coming to the Lord together! My dad is such an incredible Godly man and I truly strive to seek the Lord like he does. His words, his love and his prayers are all things that continue to inspire me to grow deeper in my relationship with Christ!

Laughter is always being thrown into my dad and I’s dates somewhere. It’s apart of who we are and what we love to do! I believe that laughing is one of the strongest elements in your father daughter relationship because it’s a key factor in making sure your bond stays strong. It makes you forget about any of the bad times you’ve had and yet instead fills you with joy! It doesn’t take much to make my dad and I laugh if I’m gonna be serious here.. in this picture we were literally laughing at this funny bird we saw! I’m not even kidding.

Some of you may do this already and if that’s the case, I know you know just how awesome it is! But for those of you who don’t, I challenge you to fit this into your schedule. Father-daughter dates are unlike anything else and the best way to always keep close, catch up and create memories with your dad! Every time I go out with my dad I always am sure to snap a picture of him. I started this tradition a few years ago and have yet to break it. I want to be able to look back on these times to remember all the fun experiences we’ve had together. I will include some of the photos below so you can see.

I’m sure you’re thinking, “Man, they eat a lot!” WHY YES, yes we do. But we have fun doing it and that’s all that matters. We have done other things like go to concerts and watch movies but our go to is brunch dates! They are convenient, relaxing and once again.. food, duh! Can’t pass up that.

These dates have seriously connected my dad and I in the most beautiful way ever. We’re the best of pals and even wrote a song about it! For those of you seeking to become closer with your father, please try this out. I promise you won’t be disappointed and will be grateful for the memories you’ll make. I love you all and am wishing all the dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day! Especially my daddy. Have a good week!

    This is amazing.
And I know first hand this is apart of who you both are.
God has Blessed you both because of this.
I have father daughter dates as well, but only when the girls are around .
As they all live 500 miles away.
But we still get them in and we all look forward to it.
Thank You for sharing the daughters side of this.
